Details currently being finalised for my Private Woodland Fox & Cub Hide 2027.

This half day photographic hide session (4-5 Hrs) on Foxes & Cubs will take place in late April until September and actual dates will become more clear as the season progresses. The Foxes are best captured in the early morning & evening when the light levels are much better. You will be working in my own private 8.5 acre woodland and at ground level to capture eye level shots which bring a uniqueness to the pictures, I use natural materials as hides, plus dependant on the earth also from manmade hides by Tragopan or static woodland hides. This will mean that you will be potentially working in confined spaces and sometimes on uneven ground for quite sometime. So this is something you need to take in to consideration before booking. If you can manage this discomfort, you may be rewarded with some amazing images of the Foxes and Cubs.

As always you will be thoroughly briefed before the hide session commences and not just about the day but how to take the shots to get great images. We will also discuss the best fieldcraft techniques in order to prevent any disturbance to the Foxes. Timing of this session is key so please allow flexibility on dates, I will be monitoring them closely to ensure I pick the perfect time to capture the Cubs emerging for the first time. Dependant on when the Foxes appear you should have at least 300mm of focal length on a cropped-sensor body or 400mm lens on a full frame body or longer. Tripods and beanbag supports are advisable, make sure the tripod can be set to a low angle to achieve that intimate shot. To add to the flexibility bring a teleconverter if you have one.

NOTE: This is NOT a baited hide, no supplementary food is given to the Foxes and they are only captured naturally.

The red fox is our only wild member of the dog family. They are not fussy eaters and will happily munch on small mammals, birds, frogs, worms as well as berries and fruit! Foxes that live in towns and cities may even scavenge in bins to look for scraps. A male fox, called a dog makes a barking noise whereas the females, called vixens make a spine-chilling scream sound.

A medium-sized dog, the red fox is orangey-red above, white below, with black tips to the ears, dark brown feet and a white tip to the bushy, orange tail (known as the 'brush').
