The UK’s badgers are one of the country’s most iconic and much-loved mammals. Easily recognised by their striking black-and-white striped faces and sturdy build, they live in family groups called clans within underground burrow systems known as setts. Mostly nocturnal, badgers spend their nights foraging for earthworms, insects, fruit, and plants, playing an important role in the ecosystem. Secretive yet social, they are rarely seen up close, which makes any encounter with these beautiful animals a truly special experience.
