ONE-TO-ONE WORKSHOPS
brief
I can cater for all experience levels from beginners in wildlife photography up to an advanced level, I will help you learn new techniques to allow you to get the best from your future photographic endeavours. I will cover the basics of exposure, custom settings in camera, workflow and advice on any future adventures in the field, and more importantly fieldcraft and the correct protocols of being a wildlife photographer. These bespoke workshops will be tailored to you. By investing time with me, I hope my wealth of experience as a wildlife photographer & naturalist, will help your understanding of how to develop your creativity, regardless of your experience or type of camera outfit.
Experience level
These workshops are open to everyone from beginners to more advanced photographers, when you book, you'll be asked to provide a brief description of your level of experience and what you would like to gain most out of the day. My ultimate goal is to enhance your knowledge of wildlife photography and for you to finish the day taking away many good memories and skills to help you further tune your photographic skills.
Equipment type
As a Canon user these workshops are not specific to makes or models of camera and I can cover both DSLR & Mirrorless systems.
Photographic tuition
I am a friendly and approachable person, and I have always said there is nothing like a silly question no matter how many times you ask. My main aim is for you to gain understanding and go away knowing you are better prepared and able to adopt the new skills you’ve learned.
Workshop Location
All the courses will be held on or around the Lizard in Cornwall with the exception of the Red Deer Rut (held on Exmoor). However please do get in touch to discuss any possible travel requirements.
Portfolio & Photographic review
Some photographers may find it useful to receive constructive feedback on some of their photos at the start of the day or prior to the workshop. This might benefit some in order to point out specific areas of interest that can be worked on during your workshop. If you would like to use this opportunity please let me know; images can be sent to me prior to the workshop or bring along a selection of images on an iPad on the day.
What you will learn
Throughout the day we will touch on understanding your camera and it’s functions; most cameras these days have a wealth of buttons which for some maybe quite daunting. We will also cover exposure, focusing modes, lens selection and techniques, plus how to best use the natural light to enhance your images.
Summary
The main aim of my workshops is for you to enjoy yourself and leave you feeling as if you have improved not just your photographic skills but also your fieldcraft techniques, enabling you to get in a position to get great shots in the future. The day is yours and I will do my upmost to ensure that I cater for your every need. Any questions please contact me.
DISCLAIMER
Whilst I hope you will see the Wildlife on the workshop I can never guarantee this as it’s just the unpredictability of Nature, if we don’t see anything for you to photograph I will be happy to do a further workshop at a reduced rate.
