The Kingfisher is one of the UK’s most colourful birds and one of my personal favourites to watch and photograph. I wait hidden along a stretch of water in hope to hear that pipping call as the cobolt blue flash zips by, then lands in front of you. The heart always skips a beat when it lands and settles down to hunt for small fish below. This Kingfisher was photographed at a private lake owned by a friend, as with all my images no baiting methods were used to capture this image.
